My 30-Day Challenge October 2, 2011

The Moksha Yoga 30-Day Challenge. After years of attending Moksha Yoga North York,  I have finally decided to embark on this wonderful challenge for the mind and body. One hot yoga class a day for 30 straight days… why, you ask? It’s the beginning of a new month, and October seems to bring with it a certain kind of momentum that I haven’t felt before.  My intention for this 3o-day practice is simply to bring awareness to every nuance of my body and soul; to observe how radical or insignificant is the change  in how I feel about my spirit from day to day. Instead of judging, to just try and understand. Yoga, as a spiritual practice, helps me make the connection between how I’m feeling that day and what comes out when I practice on my mat. When I’m feeling anxious or restless, I rush through the postures, judging myself and berating myself for not being able to hold Dancers’ Pose with my legs at a perfect 90 degree angle. When I am feeling in control, relaxed, and generally open to life, my practice takes on an ethereal lightness and I find that the end of the class has come without my even noticing the existence of time.

I hope to share with you my observations, trials, and tribulations as I complete this 30 day challenge. I want to provide inspiration to whomever chooses to read this blog through daily quotes and the open and honest narration of my journey. Namaste!

something interesting to do is try and catch yourself when you start thinking of outside pressures or stresses or that feeling you can’t turn your brain off…recognize them, and know that you’re thinking about them, and focus to get them out…a good way is to focus on your breathing or your concentration on the pose…but its interesting to see what you’re thinking about
